I really like the thought of doing a superheroes theme because it leaves a lot of room for interpretation. There are all kinds of superheros with different backgrounds, different “powers”, and different motives that allow for each person to find something for themselves. While I have not read any superhero comics, I grew up watching superhero shows and movies with my brother and go to as many of the movies coming out now as possible. I generally prefer superheroes who are a part of the Marvel Universe. When I was in high school we had an assignment in chemistry to make a mole (a fun creative assignment to go with the actual unit known as mole in chemistry) and mine was dressed like Thor. Over the years I have also received some Thor related gifts like the mouse pad I have at home. While Thor is certainly a favorite, I really like all the Marvel heroes.
While this does create a central theme, I also believe that it will allow for a lot of diversity because people will be able to pick different characters and aspects to influence their assignments. I am extremely interested to see how it ties in with everything we complete over the semester and how influential it is in everyone’s assignments. While one person may choose to go all out and create a collage to Superman, someone else may choose to do something more subtle where you have to figure out how superheroes tie into what they created. As you said in the assignment post, it is up to class to decide where the theme is going to go and I am excited to see where we can take it and how far we can stretch it.
