Today’s Issues on KLLM Radio
Luckily this week was relatively simple because my group met last week and assigned all the roles so that we could all be set and ready to compile everything when we met this week. Honestly, the hardest part this week was finding a meeting time that worked for everyone. We decided last week that we were going to form our radio show around our characters views on today’s issues. My character was tackling global warming because she controls the weather. Since I used one of my audio assignments as a commercial for our radio show the only thing I had to make this week was my superheros segment. My part ended up being slightly different from the other people in my group as I chose to record my segment like it was my character talking instead of talking about my character. However, it still blended well because we all followed one theme. I spoke as Weather Woman. I gave a brief background on my character and them spoke some about some environmental issues facing today’s society and what needs to be done to fix it. I decided to keep my segment simple and not add too many sounds because I generally see my character as very down to earth and chill. I had a simple piano track playing through the entire segment and added other soft weather sounds during. There was a light rain sound at the beginning as it relates to the origin of my character and a hurricane track as I discussed some of the more devastating affects of global warming. Besides that, it was just my character talking to the “audience”. I also used my Haunted House commercial from last week this week for the radio to keep it in season. It was a funny coincidence that someone else in the group made a commercial for a Halloween store.
Our group met yesterday (Thursday) with all of are parts so that we could combine them, get everything in order and make sure it sounds good. Because we had worked our roles last week we were able to get right to work combining everything and were able to finish last night and Liala posted the radio show to her SoundCloud. I really liked how organized our group was because it made it easier to get things done. We all have very busy schedules and were not able to meet often. Because we set up plans were could work pretty independently and were still able to create a cohesive show.
